It’s already been a fascinating 2021 for this up-and-down organization.

Entering 2020, the Houston Texans had won the AFC South four of the previous five seasons. But that stretch of success ended with a resounding thud this past year as the club dropped a 4-12 and third place in the division.

Head coach Bill O’Brien was dismissed after a 0-4 start in 2020. This offseason has already been one of major changes. Nick Caserio is now the general manager and David Culley is the new head coach.

In terms of player departure, 10-year veteran J.J. Watt asked for his release and after a few weeks he recently opted to ink a two-year deal with the Arizona Cardinals. Also cut loose by the club were running back Duke Johnson and center Nick Martin.

So is Caserio just getting started as the club looks to improve its cap situation (via Spotrac)? Here are three veterans that could be released soon.

3. WR Randall Cobb

Last offseason, then-general manager and head coach Bill O’Brien dealt DeAndre Hopkins to the Arizona Cardinals for not a lot of compensation. The highly-controversial deal worked out well for Kliff Kingsbury’s team. Meanwhile, the Texans made a move to acquire wide receiver Brandin Cooks from the Rams and he led the team in catches (81) and receiving yards (1,150 – scoring six times.

The club also signed veteran free agent Randall Cobb, who spent 2019 with the Dallas Cowboys. But he wound up playing in only 10 games and snaring 38 passes for 441 yards and three touchdowns. Both Cooks and Cobb remain but will the team bring back 2017 first-round pick Will Fuller, slated for free agency (via Spotrac)? Cobb could be on the outside looking in.
