2. Zach Ertz

Ertz has been a great player for Philadelphia over the years, but the team doesn’t appear to have any interest in re-signing him. That means the 30-year-old tight end is destined to leave in free agency.

The presence of Dallas Goedert on the roster gives the Eagles a player capable of stepping in and serving as the team’s No. 1 tight end moving forward. The options behind Goedert on the depth chart aren’t overly inspiring. It’s imperative that Philadelphia find a No. 2 tight end in the draft who is capable of making an impact as a rookie.

Kyle Pitts could be a temptation for the front office at No. 6, but that might be slightly too early to nab the Florida tight end. Brevin Jordan could upgrade the team’s pass-catching options in Round 2 or 3. The Miami star isn’t an elite prospect, but he’s got an athletic profile that bodes well for NFL success.

The other option available to the Eagles is to wait until the later rounds to select someone who profiles as a blocking tight end. That won’t excite the fan base, but it would give the position group good balance behind Goedert.
