Joel Embiid openly trolls Donovan Mitchell on Twitter after ejection
Joel Embiid celebrated the 76ers’ overtime victory over the Jazz on Wednesday by trolling Donovan Mitchell, who picked up a technical with Embiid’s involvement.
Joel Embiid’s handle on Twitter includes the nickname “Troel.” He lived up to that on Wednesday night after his Philadelphia 76ers beat Donovan Mitchell’s Utah Jazz in overtime.
The victory involved Mitchell being ejected in overtime with his second technical foul after Embiid appealed to the refs. The Philadelphia forward made sure to call attention to the moment on social media. Mitchell took notice.
Like any true troll, Embiid welcomed the attention and pushed the engagement forward.
Mitchell may have been fired up enough after the game to risk a fine from the NBA for criticizing the refs, but he did a good job of taking it in stride on social media.

The matchup between Philadelphia and Utah was a preview of a potential NBA Finals series featuring the East and West leaders. Embiid and Mitchell made sure it lived up to the hype.
Mitchell led his team with 33 points while adding 8 rebounds, 6 assists and a steal. He hit five 3-pointers before two technical fouls saw him ejected in overtime.
Embiid was even more outstanding with 40 points to lead all scorers. He also had 19 total rebounds, 3 assists, 2 blocks and a steal. He came up in the clutch with a game-tying 3-pointer to force the extra period.
Utah still tops the NBA with a 27-9 record, but Philadelphia got the better of this matchup with a 131-123 win. The 76ers are now 24-12 with a half-game lead over the Nets for first place in the Eastern Conference.
The two teams will get to enjoy their All-Star break with an eye on making their final push to the playoffs when they come back.
