In a tough loss to the struggling Sacramento Kings on Wednesday, Los Angeles Lakers big man Montrezl Harrell landed one of the worst technicals you’ll ever see.

In recent campaigns, we’ve really seen NBA officials try and settle things down across the board, and they’re really not putting up with any kind of lip whatsoever from players. That was once again showcased on Wednesday night in a showdown between the Kings and LA Lakers.

In the middle of the action, center Montrezl Harrell was battling in the paint and fired off a heavily-contested shot. In went in and Harrell screamed out for a foul to be called as well. Seconds later, he was hit with a technical. Seriously?

Montrezl Harrell got called for one of the worst technicals you’ll ever see

As you can see in the video above, the Lakers veteran yelled out ‘and-1’ after his shot found the bottom of the cotton and he was immediately hit with a technical. After he was penalized, Harrell and his LA teammates were in total disbelief. A technical for that reaction?

All over Twitter, you’ve seen fans call out the ref and blast the NBA for becoming extra soft. It’s hard to argue with that right now, especially after Harrell really didn’t even do anything that bad. He was passionate and voiced his displeasure. We’ve seen a lot worse than that not get whistled for a technical.

To make matters worse for the Lakers, they suffered a disappointing 123-120 loss to the Kings. LA had no business losing that showdown, but Sacramento was able to make enough plays late in the contest to come away with the victory. Now, Harrell and LA will look to bounce back on Friday night in a meeting with the Indiana Pacers at the Staples Center.
