Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers wants to be a dad.

Rodgers’ private life has become public over the last few months, as he’s acknowledged his engagement to actress Shailene Woodley. The pair cemented their fate (jokes aside) relatively recently, with Rodgers now having more time on his hands after the Packers NFC Championship Game exit against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Rodgers and Woodley’s weeding date is unknown at this time, but they haven’t been shy about speaking on their relationship, or their future. The Packers quarterback, for one, is embracing the idea of becoming a dad.

“I’m in that age group where a lot of my close friends from high school and college are fathers now and have families of their own,” Rodgers said in a recent Instagram Live with Zenith Watches. “It’s maybe not in the immediate future but definitely something that I really look forward to.”

Aaron Rodgers is smart to begin thinking about life after football

As great of a player as Rodgers is, he’s 37 years old. Rodgers will play as long as the Packers, or another employer, lets him. But at some point he’ll have to come to terms with his football mortality. Not everyone can be Tom Brady, playing until they’re 45 years old.

Rodgers compared his own bill of health to how he plans on taking care of another human being. It’s an interesting transition, but one that makes a decent amount of sense when you really think about it.

“I’ve done a pretty good job at taking care of myself for the last 37 years and look forward to taking care of another life at some point too. I just think it’s going to be so fun,” Rodgers said.

Woodley and Rodgers are very much in love, and prepared for the next steps in their relationship, including marriage and parenthood. We wish them the best.
