If he can shine bright in West Lafayette, he can certainly star in Green Bay

What the Packers need more than anything is a dynamic receiving presence opposite of Adams. While Marshall, and to some degree Toney, have shown they can be a high-end No. 2, why not go with a proven No. 1 from the college game, and one who is absolutely electrifying with the ball in his hands? Of course, I am talking about Purdue Boilermakers star wide receiver Rondale Moore.

In recent NFL mock drafts, Moore is the most likely wide receiver option the Packers go with at No. 29. What makes him worth that late first-round selection is that he has shown that he can separate and elevate among middling Big Ten West competition. We should not know who plays wide receiver for Purdue very often, but here we are. Moore was an All-American as a freshman.

In three seasons in West Lafayette, Moore had 178 receptions for 1,915 yards and 14 touchdowns. While the extreme bulk of that came in his true freshman season in 2018, nobody ever had any doubts if Moore’s play would translate to the next level. Though he initially opted out of the 2020 season, he did come back to play three more games for the Boilermakers last year.

Overall, Moore is not going to have the wear-and-tear on him like Marshall, Toney or whatever wide receiver prospect the Packers could be looking at. Though he has only played in seven combined games in the last two seasons, that is probably the only reason a player of Moore’s talent and caliber will be available at the tail-end of the first round for the Packers to select.

Ultimately, the Packers need to go with a skill-position player at No. 29 to keep their rabid fanbase from panicking. Green Bay cannot invest in a future without Rodgers. While we have no idea how long he plans to play, he is the biggest reason the Packers are still a Super Bowl contender year in and year out. If Green Bay wastes another first-round pick, he may have to head elsewhere soon.

Should the Packers take one of these three wide receivers, they will be in good shape to contend.
