NBA Trade Rumors: 4 deadline deals to help the Miami Heat get right

Thad Young is another veteran who could be on the radar of several teams but given the Bulls’ surge up the standings, they may just decide to hold onto him and try to get the most value out of this season’s developmental opportunities for their young players. If the Bulls did decide to trade Young they’d likely be looking for a first-round pick but the Heat might be able to thread the needle by throwing in Nunn and Achiuwa instead. Both players are young, with upside, and could fill positional needs for the Bulls this season and in the future.

For the Heat, Young may be less valuable than for some other contenders, considering how much of his value is derived from cutting and facilitating, filling similar spots and roles to what Bam Adebayo does on offense. But he’s incredibly versatile at both ends and he’s undoubtedly an upgrade as connective tissue between the Heat’s other players on offense and defense, all while minimizing the demands on other parts of Miami’s depth like Andre Iguodala and Mo Harkless.
