It’s not clear how serious the Atlanta Hawks may be about trading John Collins and if they are ready to find a deal, they’ll likely have their pick of intriguing offers. Collins is a shaky defender (which might not be as big a concern for the Heat) but he’s a budding offensive star. Over the past two seasons, he’s averaged 19.9 points, 9.0 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game, shooting 56.3 percent from the field, 39.5 percent on 3s and 82.2 percent on free-throws. He could help the Heat offense as a vertical spacer, as a traditional spacer as well as attacking specific matchups in isolation with his face-up and back-to-the-basket games.

Adding Collins would be a deal that potentially makes the Heat better in both the short- and long-term. However, it will take a strong offer to pry him away from the Hawks and even the appeal of Olynyk’s expiring deal, Achiuwa’s upside and a future pick (outside the likely peak of Jimmy Butler) may not be enough to get a deal done.
