2021 NFL Mock Draft: How does Dak Prescott’s new deal affect first round?
By Brad Weiss
The Arizona Cardinals made the biggest splash of the offseason so far, as they added a three-time Defensive Player of the Year in J.J. Watt. It is the second offseason in a row that they have landed an elite talent from the Houston Texans, and there is no doubt their pass rush is going to be a lot better this season.
In the defensive backfield, the Cards still need help at cornerback, and they get some here at pick No. 16 in the person of Jaycee Horn. This is a kid who is an absolute ballhawk, and on this Cardinals defense, he would have a chance to step in immediately and would be in a great spot to make an impact in the passing game.
Looking at this Las Vegas Raiders roster, there is no doubt that they need help up front along the defensive line. The team was downright laughable when it came to getting after the quarterback last season, finishing the year with only 21 sacks as a team, with seven of those coming from Maxx Crosby alone.
At pick No. 17 overall, the Raiders should look to bring in some help for Crosby, adding Michigan edge rusher Kwity Paye. This is a kid with a tremendous motor, possessing the ability to get after the quarterback at will, something this defense needs in a big way heading into Year 2 in Las Vegas.
With their second of two first-round picks in the 2021 NFL Draft, the Miami Dolphins shift their focus to the defensive side of the ball. At pick No. 18 overall, Miami lands a player considered the best linebacker in this draft class, adding Micah Parsons from Penn State.
Parsons has seen his draft stock fall in recent weeks, but when all is said and done, he is definitely going to hear his name called in the first round. He has blinding speed, is an elite tackler, and at the next level, he is going to be the kind of three-down linebacker every team covets.
