2021 NFL Mock Draft: How does Dak Prescott’s new deal affect first round?
By Brad Weiss
The Washington Football Team witnessed an incredible comeback by quarterback Alex Smith this season, as he came back from a near-fatal injury to return to the starting lineup. This offseason, they decided to cut Smith, clearing the way for them to bring in a new long-term answer at the position in 2021.
With the No. 19 overall pick, the Washington Football Team should set their sights on Mac Jones, who is coming off an outstanding season with Alabama. Jones would not only be a long-term solution at quarterback, but someone who could step in and start right away, and some believe he won’t even be around this late in round one.
The Chicago Bears still have yet to decide what they plan to do at quarterback, as everyone from Deshaun Watson to Mitchell Trubisky are still on the table. Of course, Watson is a bit of a long-shot, so Trubisky could very well be the guy moving forward in Chi-Town, so take that however you want to.
No matter who is at quarterback in 2021, they need help up front along the offensive line, and they get some here at pick No. 20 in Samuel Cosmi. This is a kid who was an absolute mauler during his time at the University of Texas and would be an excellent fit upfront for the Bears.
The Indianapolis Colts have decided to roll with Carson Wentz this season, after trading away some draft capital to get the former Philadelphia Eagles signal-caller. For a time, Wentz was considered one of the top young quarterbacks in football, and maybe reuniting with Frank Reich is just what he needs to get his career back on track.
With Wentz under center, the Colts can look to add some weapons in the 2021 NFL Draft, and they do so with pick No. 21, adding Florida standout Kadarius Toney. This is a player who dominated during the Senior Bowl week, so expect him to be one of the wideouts off the board in the first round this April.
