Packers draft rumors, Demetric Felton

2. Demetric Felton

The upcoming NFL Draft is a great vehicle for the Packers to use when it comes to finding a No. 2 running back. They won’t need to spend an early-round selection to find a quality option. Someone like Felton should be available in the middle-rounds and can fit seamlessly onto Green Bay’s roster in 2021.

The former UCLA star lacks the size to be anything more than a third-down back at the next level, but that’s a role he can fill at a high level. He’s got the right combination of speed and elusiveness out of the backfield to turn short throws into sizeable gains.

Felton also brings plus value to Green Bay because he’s already a quality route-runner. His college tape shows him to be a prospect that already understands the nuances of how to create separation against single-coverage down the field. That quality could appeal strongly to Rodgers in the team’s aerial attack.

Felton shouldn’t be counted on to soak up carries inside the tackles, but he can lighten Dillon’s workload with a few perimeter runs per game as well. It’s easy to see how he can help the Packers as a modest draft pick in 2021.
