1. Sign Trent Williams

Williams sat out the entire 2019 season in Washington, but he retook his place as a top-end left tackle with the San Francisco 49ers (91.9 Pro Football Focus grade). Now he’ll hit free agency, as the top left tackle available (and it might not be close).

Williams will surely be seeking a big contract in free agency, and he will have deep-pocketed suitors who are in a solid position to win as well (Indianapolis Colts, Miami Dolphins, Cleveland Browns, Los Angeles Chargers). But there’s an angle where he’ll prioritize a ring over everything, and that’s where the Chiefs could swoop in above any other suitor.

Mahomes can surely function with some lesser weapons, and without an elite blindside protector. But the Super Bowl showed he is not immune to a lack of a functional offensive line. The Chiefs could use all their fresh cap resources to go all-in and sign Williams, then worry about adding other replacement pieces in the draft. Or they could lean toward an internal replacement (Lucas Niang) to fill a tackle spot.

Honorable Mentions: Sign Kyle Long, Trade for Orlando Brown Jr.

Next. 3 landing spots for Emmanuel Sanders. dark
