Cleveland Browns full 2021 NFL mock draft
Surratt is still relatively new to the linebacker position, but he’s got outstanding athleticism for the position. He can give Cleveland’s defense a much-needed injection of speed in the middle if he lands with them in Round 3.
The former North Carolina standout still needs a lot of work when it comes to his ability to hold up against the run. That might limit his effectiveness as a rookie. His ability to blossom into a quality pass-rusher more than makes up for that potential weakness. He projects to be an above-average starter if his technique improves with NFL coaching.
Drafting Ojulari in Round 1 gives Cleveland the speedy edge rusher they require, but circling back to nab Sample in Round 3 would give them a different sort of pass-rusher up front. He’s a bigger body who can help their perimeter pass rush on early downs before slotting inside to rush the passer on obvious passing downs.
The jump from Tulane to the NFL is going to cause Sample some problems, but he’s got the athleticism and size required to make the leap. He could turn into a solid rotation piece for the Browns at 92.
