Miami. 112. player. 28. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Edge. Quincy Roche

Most mock drafts won’t have the Raiders waiting this long to improve their edge-rushing options. It’s important to remember that Las Vegas can use NFL free agency to fill that void too. That’s why waiting until Round 4 to nab Roche can make perfect sense for Mike Mayock and his front office.

Roche is a bit of a ‘tweener on the edge due to his lack of length and weight, but his ability to get to the quarterback isn’t in question. Instead of relying on elite athleticism, Roche using his technique to work his way past opposing offensive lineman. He may never be a double-digit sack artist, but he should be able to generate above-average pressure for the Raiders defense.

Las Vegas’ need for help at both defensive end and outside linebacker makes the question of where Roche will line up moot in their eyes. They just need him to help collapse the pocket from the edge. Anything else they get from him will be a bonus.

The Raiders might choose to take a bigger swing for athleticism in Round 4, but Roche’s high floor as a prospect makes him good value. There’s a chance he doesn’t last this long if a team falls in love with his array of pass-rushing moves in Round 3.
