Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster sent out a cryptic tweet ahead of him entering unrestricted NFL free agency later this week.

JuJu Smith-Schuster will be hitting free agency in a few days. The Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver let his fans know that Pittsburgh will forever be a special place for him, no matter where he ends up signing this offseason.

Smith-Schuster was drafted in the second round out of USC in 2017. In four years with the Steelers, Smith-Schuster has 308 receptions for 3,726 yards and 26 touchdowns. His best season in the NFL came in 2018 when the second-year pro had 111 catches for 1,426 yards and seven trips to pay dirt. That was the only time he has ever broken the 1,000-yard receiving threshold.

How concerned should Steelers fans be about JuJu Smith-Schuster’s tweet?

While Smith-Schuster may only be showing love to Steelers fans, his message does come across like he is leaving town in 2021 NFL free agency. When he is at his best, Smith-Schuster is a terrific player. However, he has lacked consistency in his four-year NFL career out of USC, as well as an inability to be a No. 1 wide receiver. His spectacular 2018 season came alongside Antonio Brown.

Ultimately, Pittsburgh may end up letting Smith-Schuster walk this spring. No organization does a better job of drafting wide receivers than the Steelers. They already have a fantastic second-year pro in Chase Claypool. Plus, the Steelers have one of the worst cap situations in the league. They are roughly $6 million under the cap and no AFC team is in worse shape up against it this March.

If this is it for Smith-Schuster’s time in Pittsburgh, at least he let us know it has been a good one.
