Colts reportedly trying to bring back T.Y. Hilton in free agency
After a strong end to his 2020 season, T.Y. Hilton could be back to keep his career going with the Indianapolis Colts.
With Carson Wentz set to take over as the starting quarterback for the Indianapolis Colts, head coach Frank Reich wants to make sure the signal-caller has every resource available to succeed. It goes without saying, but Wentz will need a veteran receiver to step up and make big plays for him.
Will that receiver end up being T.Y. Hilton? According to ESPN’s Dianna Russini, the Colts are hoping to bring the wideout back in free agency, though it should be noted that nothing has been finalized yet. Will the two sides be able to get a contract done?
The Colts are hoping they can re-sign veteran wide receiver T.Y. Hilton
Hilton arrived to the Colts in 2012 and has been an absolute stud since then. While his 2020 campaign started off a bit slow, he ended the year with a bang and finished with 762 yards and five touchdowns. For years, Hilton has been a true playmaker for Indianapolis, earning Pro Bowl honors four consecutive seasons from 2014-17.
As of this writing, though, Hilton is out of contract and could draw the attention of several other organizations out in free agency. However, the Colts understand just how important he is to the team and the offense, which is why they’re hopeful they can keep the speedster in town.
The veteran receiver has 608 receptions, 9,360 yards and 50 touchdowns during his playing days with the Colts. While he’s battled some injuries in recent years, Hilton clearly still has plenty left in the tank and could make a big-time difference for any offense he suits up for.
Only time will tell if the Colts can get him back in 2021. It truly would be tough for Indy fans to see him playing anywhere else.
