The Carolina Panthers have made a strong move on defense by signing Denzel Perryman to a two-year deal.

NFL free agency hasn’t slowed down one bit on Tuesday, with several more moves going down to excite fan bases across the country. For the Carolina Panthers, they’ve gone out and been able to make a move to help out the team’s defense.

That’s because according to FanSided’s Matt Verderame, the NFC South organization has agreed to a two-year deal with former Los Angeles Chargers linebacker Denzel Perryman. Indeed, after spending the past six years with the Chargers, Perryman is now set to start the next chapter of his career on the other side of the country.

This is no question a solid move for Carolina and head coach Matt Rhule. Perryman is known for being a fantastic tackler, as he’s posted 349 stops since making his NFL debut back in 2015. Since then, he’s appeared in 69 games, making 51 starts.

Last season, the 5-foot-11, 240-pounder had a strong showing, as he finished the campaign with 48 tackles, one sack and one forced fumble. Now, he’ll look to head to Carolina and make an immediate impact with the Panthers.

For Carolina, the team is hoping to bounce back after a miserable 2020. Due to injury, superstar running back Christian McCaffrey missed nearly the entire season, which of course had a monster impact on the offense being able to play its best.

With McCaffrey only able to suit up in three games, Carolina simply couldn’t execute the way they wanted to and limped their way to a 5-11 record. Come next season, supporters everywhere are hoping the team can execute on both sides of the ball and be in a position to compete for a playoff spot. We’ll see if that happens, but the Perryman addition is certainly a step in the right direction.
