5 players Giants should draft in the first round
1. New York Giants first-round draft targets – WR Jaylen Waddle
Let’s stick with the Alabama theme here and look at Jaylen Waddle as the best fit for the Giants in the first round. There are three elite wide receivers at the top of the board and Waddle is the likeliest to be available when New York is picking at no. 11.
A truly explosive playmaker, Waddle was limited this season due to an ankle injury that sidelined him until the national championship game. 2019 saw Waddle make a tremendous impact despite being buried behind Smith as well as future first-round picks Jerry Jeudy and Henry Ruggs IV on the depth chart, catching 33 passes for 560 yards and six touchdowns.
Waddle was on his way to a full-fledged breakout prior to the injury, catching 28 passes for 591 yards and seven touchdowns in just six games. New York could desperately use a playmaker like Waddle, who can be a massive weapon to aid in the development of Jones in his critical third year.
Gettleman has shown a commitment to helping Jones succeed by improving his offensive line and finding some weapons over the past few years. Waddle would add a true top receiver to the mix, making this the best choice that the Giants could make in the first round.
