5 players Eagles should draft in the first round
2. Ja’Marr Chase
Chase is arguably the top receiver in this year’s draft class which puts him in serious consideration for the Eagles in Round 1. His decision to opt-out of the 2020 campaign has not damaged his draft stock in the slightest.
Specifically, it hasn’t caused scouts to forget just how good Chase was during LSU’s magical undefeated season in 2019. In many ways, Chase was just as good two years ago as Smith was down the stretch last year. That elite production and his impressive athletic profile gives him the edge over his SEC West competitor.
Chase projects to be a classic No. 1 wideout in the NFL. He doesn’t have elite speed or size but he grades out as an excellent prospect in both areas. His ability to make tough catches look effortless really stands out on film. He’s just the sort of receiver who can help make his quarterback more efficient at the next level.
Chase should be the pick for Philadelphia if there is not a quarterback they rate highly on the board at No. 6. If the signal-callers are gone, Chase can give them excellent value. In some ways, he might be the most likely guy on this list to land in the City of Brotherly Love in 2020.
