Bears steal corner from division rival to replace Kyle Fuller

In the aftermath of their release of Kyle Fuller, the Chicago Bears have reportedly stolen a corner from the division rival Detroit Lions.

It’s been quite an interesting few weeks for the Chicago Bears. After watching their Russell Wilson hopes turn in to Andy Dalton, Chicago has been left trying to pick up the pieces and salvage what’s left of the offseason.

Fans in the Windy City probably thought they would be able to keep two-time Pro Bowl cornerback Kyle Fuller, but that wish didn’t come true either. Chicago released Fuller yesterday because they needed to make moves to try to get under the cap.

Now, it looks like the Bears have found Fuller’s replacement.

Bears sign former Lions cornerback Desmond Trufant

Cornerback Desmond Trufant is signing a one-year deal with the Chicago Bears, a source tells ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

The Lions released Trufant earlier this month after signing him to a two-year, $20 million contracts last season. He was brought in to be the team’s replacement for Darius Slay, who was traded to the Philadelphia Eagles.

A former first-round pick for the Atlanta Falcons in 2013, Trufant spent seven years in Atlanta before being released last year. After signing with the Lions, the 30-year-old was limited to only six games last season due to a nagging hamstring injury.

A Pro Bowler in 2015, Trufant has started all 103 games he’s played in during his career. In that time he’s made14 interceptions with 83 passes defended, 3 forced fumbles, and 7 fumble recoveries. He’ll look to stay healthy and help the Bears get back to the postseason.
