Round 3

EDGE. 45. Washington. Joe Tryon. 71. player. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis

The Broncos seem to be keeping Von Miller, so their need for an edge rusher is not as it would be if he was leaving, but looking at life after Miller is still important. He’s coming off a major ankle injury that forced him to miss last season. Also, he’s going to be 32 years old, and that contract is eventually going to be a problem for the Broncos. With a new regime in place, the Broncos could look to make a move for pass rush.

The third round would be a great place to take a shot on a pass rusher. Joe Tryon would be a very interesting name out of the University of Washington.

He’s built like a stud, standing at 6’5 and 262 lbs. His intangibles are right there, but he needs to get more polished. The right coach could turn Tryon into a Pro Bowler. Vic Fangio and Ed Donatell will love to have a pure talent like Tryon fall to them in the third round.

Tryon needs to be coached up, but give him a year in the Broncos system, and he could be a clear and utter impact to the franchise. Let him learn under Miller for a year, and he could be a star. It’s not often players with this type of profile fall to the third round. In all honestly, a lack of a combine probably hurt Tryon. He’d do well there in all the athletic activities.

Still, the Broncos adding Tryon would put their defense in a much better position for the future. Maybe he doesn’t make a huge impact in 2021, but he’ll have the seldom impact on a passing down, and in the final stretches of the season, he could make a game-breaking play.
