1. Domingo German will win 20 games

A series of worrisome social media remarks made it seem like German would never return from his domestic violence suspension during the offseason. Fast forward a few months and it’s German that’s been the team’s most impressive starting pitcher of the Spring.

The player’s talent has never been in question. His impressive array of pitches powered him to an 18-win season back in 2018. He’s got a real chance to better that mark in 2021 if he can exorcise the demons that almost cost him his career in pinstripes.

Similar to the way Frazier can power the bottom of the Yankees’ order, German can give the team a massive list from the bottom of their starting rotation. Having a guy who can dominate opponents deep into games at the No. 5 spot in the rotation is a huge luxury for the Yankees. German can save the bullpen from being overextended while also helping win the vast majority of his starts with a sub 4.00 ERA if he pitches to his full potential.

If German makes that happen he’s got a chance to rack up 20 wins as a starter. That might not allow him to win the narrative required to become this season’s Comeback Player of the Year, but it could go a long way towards helping New York make a real run at a World Series title.
