After the NCAA showed levels of disparity regarding women’s basketball, Georgia Tech head coach Nell Fortner didn’t mince words.

At one point or another, basketball fans have voiced displeasure with the NCAA, and Georgia Tech women’s basketball coach Nell Fortner is the latest. In a scathing and eviscerating statement on Twitter, Fortner highlighted just how hypocritical the organization is when it comes to its beliefs.

The NCAA received backlash after Oregon’s Sedona Prince took to social media to highlight the discrepancies between how men’s basketball and women’s basketball are treated, specifically in their training facilities, the latest in a continuing issue of how the NCAA has treats women’s sports teams.

Additionally, Fortner highlighted how the association is supposed to be a non-profit group devoted to the student-athletes yet continues to treat its athletes, specifically female athletes, at a lower level due to their perceived cash value.

The NCAA has shown itself to be a hypocritical organization

There’s no sugar-coating this story. Fortner has essentially spoken for everyone. Why does it take a wave of people on social media for the NCAA to do the right thing?

It just shows how women are still fighting for the same equality that their counterparts are often the beneficiaries of. Frankly, it just continues to give the NCAA more reasons for them to be despised. It shouldn’t be like this.

It should not take a coach lashing out on social media or an athlete showing a video of evidence for an organization to do the right thing. Unfortunately, that’s just how the NCAA operates and will continue to operate unless major renovations are brought in.

Next. Women don't need the nets lowered. They need respect. dark
