Scary news has arrived for the Chicago White Sox after Eloy Jimenez injured himself on Wednesday leaping at the wall trying to rob a homer.

If you’re a Chicago White Sox fan, your heart must have stopped for a second if you were watching the spring training game on Wednesday against the Oakland Athletics. That’s because superstar left fielder Eloy Jimenez has injured himself in unlucky fashion.

As you can see in the video below, Jimenez tried to do his best Ken Griffey Jr. and jump up at the wall to try and rob a home run. Instead, he collided awkwardly and appears to have injured himself. This is not good.

Eloy Jimenez injuring himself trying to rob a home run is awful news for the White Sox

As soon as Jimenez landed after his leap, you can tell he was in immediate pain and discomfort. He ended up dropping down to the ground and was immediately looked at by a team trainer before walking off the field and taking himself out of the game. Again, White Sox supporters must be in panic mode, especially with the regular season almost here.

Jimenez is coming off a sensational 2020 campaign. During the shortened season, he appeared in 55 games and blasted 14 homers, while hitting .296 and adding 41 RBI. Just recently, Jimenez came out and said he’s hoping to hit at least 40 dingers this year and wants to hit more than .300.

He also has dreams of one day winning the AL MVP award. Now, the White Sox must wait and see just how serious this injury is. From the looks of how he landed and the pain he was in, it wouldn’t be a total shock if he ends up missing the start of the ’21 season.
