Round 4

133. player. 15. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Ohio State. Shaun Wade. CB/S

NFL teams can never have enough talent in the secondary nowadays. Through multiple mocks on multiple simulators, Wade consistently was available for the Saints here at No. 133 as if it was ordained.

After playing in the slot previously, Wade made the move out to the boundary for what would be his final season at Ohio State last year. The results weren’t great, particularly on the big stage of the College Football Playoff, and he has tumbled out of the first-round talk that was around him going into the season. His future in the NFL may be at safety, or slot corner. Declaring for the draft early might have been a poor decision, in the big picture.

For some reason, the Saints decided they needed to franchise tag safety Marcus Williams. Malcolm Jenkins will age out or be cut one of these years. Both may be gone next offseason, then replacement options will be needed. Wade could step into some nickel or dime snaps as a rookie, with an eye on more in 2022.
