2021 NBA Mock Draft 2.0: Chicago Bulls leap up the lottery, land their next big star
By Ian Levy
The Timberwolves’ pick is top-four protected but with the Wizards, Rockets, Magic and Bulls all leaping them, the pick transfers to the Warriors this season. It’s possible Golden State might try to flip this pick for a win-now piece that helps the chase another title with Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green but Suggs might be the best of both worlds.
Suggs has great size for a point guard and has the skill and athleticism to split time in both backcourt roles, making him an interesting third-guard option between Curry and Thompson. He can attack mismatches off the dribble, creating for himself when the situation calls for it. But he can also play in the Warriors’ system, moving the ball and spacing the floor around the primary action. Rookies are notoriously bad defenders but he has a lot of upside at that end and certainly won’t be useless at that end.
Suggs and Wiseman would be an interesting two-way combination for the future but Suggs also gives them a piece who could really help in a deep playoff run next season if a trade doesn’t materialize.
