Miguel Cabrera went yard off AL Cy Young winner Shane Bieber…in the snow no less.

If there were a master class on hitting to all fields, Miguel Cabrera would teach it. Bieber learned this the hard way on Opening Day of the 2021 season, with Cabrera driving a fastball to the opposite field for an early 2-0 Tigers lead against the Cleveland Indians.

The home run was Cabrera’s 350th as a Detroit Tiger, and his 488th total. Miggy joins the great Al Kaline as the only players with over 2,000 hits and 350 home runs as a Tiger.

Because of the snow, Cabrera had a tough time tracking the ball, and even slid into second base, thinking it was a double.

2021 should be a memorable season for Miguel Cabrera and the Tigers

The Tigers rebuild is finally expected to turn a corner in 2021, with A.J. Hinch at the helm. Regardless, however, Cabrera ought to hit a few milestones this year, most notably 3,000 hits and 500 home runs. Miggy reportedly showed up to spring training in great shape, a clear change from years past. He has something to prove, and the Tigers need him to deliver in the middle of an otherwise youthful lineup.

In a career full of iconic moments, Cabrera delivered another that Tigers fans in attendance and watching at home won’t even forget.
