Blls predictions, Stefon Diggs

3. Stefon Diggs won’t catch 100 passes

Diggs met every reasonable expectation the Bills had after trading for him last offseason. He led the team with 127 catches for 1,535 yards and eight touchdowns. Moreover, he gave the Buffalo offense the dynamic deep play threat they sorely lacked prior to his arrival.

The 27-year-old wide receiver should expect to get even more attention from opposing secondaries in 2021. Multiple defensive coordinators are going to approach their matchups with Buffalo by forcing another receiver on the Bills roster to beat them. Diggs is going to see a ton of double and even triple coverage looks on a weekly basis.

That will inevitably decrease his individual stats for the 2021 season. He’s going to come up just short of triple-digit catches as a result of that increased attention. The good news for Bills fans is that the attention he draws on a per snap basis will give huge opportunities to his teammates.

Some Buffalo fans will concern themselves about Diggs’ decrease in individual production next season, but it’s going to equal more team wins over the long haul. It will be crucial for Diggs to show enough maturity in the locker room to prioritize team goals over his individual numbers in 2021.
