Ladies and gentlemen, we may have just witnessed the greatest college basketball game of all time, and it is not hyperbole.
On Saturday, the No. 1 Gonzaga Bulldogs fought tooth and nail against the No. 11 UCLA Bruins for the right to advance the Baylor Bears in the National Championship Game.
With the game tied at 90 with three seconds remaining in overtime, Gonzaga freshman guard Jalen Suggs crossed the half-court line and unleashed a buzzer-beating 3-point shot that bounced off the backboard and into the net to win 93-90.
Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James was one of the many to watch this classic and he shared his thoughts throughout, including the charge foul at the end of regulation and the buzzer-beater by Suggs.

With seconds remaining in regulation, sophomore guard Johnny Juzang raced to the pain on a layup attempt, but he was called for the charge on sophomore forward Drew Timme. It was a debated call, but James did agree with the call. Nevertheless, UCLA nearly forced double-overtime, but Suggs’ fantastic, clutch 3-pointer dashed all hopes of the Bruins extending their season.
Timme led the way for the Bulldogs with 25 points (11-of-15 from the field), while junior guard Joel Ayayi followed him with 22 points (9-for-12 from the field). As for UCLA, Juzang had a tremendous 29-point (12-of-18 on field goals), five-rebound and four-assist performance.
Gonzaga’s undefeated season remains alive, as they look to win their first-ever National Championship at the expense of Baylor on Monday. For UCLA, they gave basketball fans the Cinderella run that we all love to view.
