The Los Angeles Lakers are going through a rough patch without LeBron James and Anthony Davis, and now Marc Gasol is providing a lift.

Marc Gasol doesn’t want to leave Los Angeles.

Despite the Lakers’ buyout acquisition of center Andre Drummond, Gasol wants to stay a member of the Purple and Gold. After Friday’s win over there Sacramento Kings in which Gasol played 28 minutes in his second game back from COVID, he was asked about his intentions moving forward. Per ClutchPoints, Gasol remains a team player:

"“Things can change quickly in the NBA, just as they have changed for me. But I’m committed to this team. It’s a hard pill to swallow because I know I’m going to be out of the lineup at some point. It’s never easy on a player…But, we’ll see.”“When I signed with the team, it was to help the team, especially the two main guys,” he added, meaning LeBron James and Anthony Davis. “I don’t think that has changed.”"

What’s the future for Marc Gasol with the Los Angeles Lakers?

With Davis out, the Lakers need Gasol. While he’s coming off the bench with Drummond starting, he can provide quality lineups, especially when Los Angeles is facing bigger teams or Drummond finds himself in foul trouble.

Of course, once Davis returns, Gasol appears to be the proverbial odd man out. At 36 years old, Gasol might be wondering how much time he has left. The Spaniard has enjoyed a phenomenal career that includes three All Star appearances, two All-NBA teams, the 2019 title and being named the 2013 NBA Defensive Player of the Year.
