Fernando Tatis Jr. hit his first home run of the season and it was an absolute moonshot against the Arizona Diamondbacks.

While the 2021 campaign hadn’t gotten off to the start Fernando Tatis Jr. was hoping for, he went ahead and changed things in a big way on Sunday afternoon. That’s because the superstar slugger connected on his first dinger of the spring, and goodness it was a moonshot.

As you’ll be able to see from the video below, Tatis Jr. made some sweet contact with the ball and it flew off his bat with the sweetest of sounds for Padres fans. Seriously, this thing was sent to space.

San Diego Padres slugger Fernando Tatis Jr. belted a monster dinger on Sunday

That’s what the Padres paid Tatis Jr. the big bucks for. This offseason, the two sides agreed to a monster deal that will pay Tatis Jr. $330 million over the next 14 years. With the club breaking the bank to finalize his extension, Sunday’s homer is exactly what they were hoping to get in return.

The Padres are ready for Tatis Jr. to keep this kind of effort going for the rest of the campaign, as the club is eyeing an NL West title.

Next. Fernando Tatis Jr. might be more agile than Neo in ‘The Matrix’ (Video). dark
