The Masters 2021 sleeper pick No. 3: Dylan Frittelli (+17500)

No gofer with longer odds to win at Augusta this week will be found here than Dylan Frittelli and it’s not overall difficult to see why he’s at 175/1 to win The Masters. After all, the 30-year-old South African has only played in 10 major championships over his career and has finished inside the top 30 only once.

Of course, that one time was in November at Augusta when he tied for fifth.

There is some concern for me that the results from this past fall could be misleading in terms of what we glean from it. By all accounts, the historic course is going to play much faster, much meaner and much tougher than it did roughly five months ago. Having said that, Frittelli’s good experience in only his second time playing this tournament combined with good recent form shouldn’t be totally overlooked.

Frittelli was in some dubious form after the November tournament as he missed four out of his next five missed cuts — and his one outlier in there was a T53 at the Farmers Insurance Open. Over his last three tournaments, however, he finished T22 at THE PLAYERS Championship, barely missed the cut at The Honda Classic and made it into the knockout round of the WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play.

He’s added length off the tee and has traditionally been a solid ball striker and a terrific player around the green, even if his putter can be a little hot or cold. Frittelli is an extreme dark horse and long shot but it’s hard to shake getting a top-five finish at Augusta the last time he played here.
