The Masters 2021: 5 dark horse sleepers who could win at Augusta
The Masters 2021 sleeper pick No. 1: Sergio Garcia (+6000)
While his odds are worse than every other dark horse sleeper we’ve discussed for the 2021 Masters, Sergio Garcia has to be in the conversation at 60/1. Not only is he a past champion at Augusta, winning finally in 2017 for his first-career major championship victory, but he also has thre other top-10 finishes in his career at this tournament.
It should definitely be noted that Garcia missed the cut in both 2018 and 2019 before not playing amid the pandemic last year. While his recent form at Augusta doesn’t inspire much confidence, though, his overall form should. He’s been absolutely hitting the ball beautifully right now and the results bare that out overall.
Not only did Garcia win the Sanderson Farms Championship early in the yearbut he also finished T11 at the Sentry Tournament of Championship and has most recently finished T9 at THE PLAYERS Championship while also making it to the quarterfinals of the Match Play as well. He’s rounding into form in a big way and that’s obviously dangerous at this spot.
We know that Sergio is going to deliver with the driver and with his irons as a historically good ball-striker throughout his career. The big question is if his putter is going to cooperate but he has been passable with it as of late. If that continues, this is a place with good vibes that could bring about another Green Jacket for the Spainard.
