Colts bold predictions, Michael Pittman

2. Michael Pittman will lead the team in catches

Pittman flashed big-play ability during his rookie season, but the Colts need him to increase his consistency during his sophomore campaign. The good news for fans in Indy is that he’s got the talent required to do just that.

It’s not out of the question to think Pittman can double his catch total from 2020. He caught 40 balls during his rookie season and that number could balloon to 80 if Wentz plays well in 2021. Pittman is just the sort of big-bodied receiver that Wentz needs to help increase his completion percentage.

Pittman also has the speed required to threaten opposing secondaries on deep routes. That won’t be a big staple of the Colts offense in 2021 though. Look for Reich and his staff to prioritize efficiency and ball control over explosion during the regular season.

That’s great news for Pittman. He needs to really focus his efforts on improving his route running on short and intermediate throws to fulfill his significant potential. He’s in line to take a massive step forward in 2021.
