Alabama football star Najee Harris is not a fan of Todd McShay’s NFL Draft critique of him.

ESPN’s Todd McShay may have a lot of fans as one of the best NFL Draft experts in the business, but former Alabama football standout Najee Harris is not one of them.

Harris projects as a mid-to-late first-round pick in 2021. While he could go as high as the Miami Dolphins picking at No. 18, there is a chance he falls out of the first round entirely. One of the biggest criticisms of Harris coming out of Alabama is his perceived inability to catch passes out of the backfield. Harris did not take kindly to McShay essentially suggesting that he is block-handed.

“I think Todd McShay can kiss my a**,” said Harris on The Adam Schefter podcast.

“How is he gonna say ‘He showed better production?’ I did not play my freshman or sophomore seasons, rarely, ever. I didn’t have an opportunity to show I could catch. It’s not ’cause I can’t, it’s ’cause I wasn’t in the game to show people I could catch. So let’s just stop looking at the stat sheet and watch the game.”

Najee Harris had a great season catching passes out of the Alabama backfield

Harris brings up a great point in that he rarely played as an underclassman. That is because Alabama’s roster was loaded with players like Josh Jacobs in the backfield. Though Harris rarely caught passes for Alabama in his first three years in Tuscaloosa, he did register 43 catches for 425 yards and four receiving touchdowns in his senior season. Not bad for the Doak Walker recipient.

The other thing that needs to be factored in here is the Crimson Tide having multiple changes at offensive coordinator while Harris was in school. Though Steve Sarkisian was in charge the last two seasons, Harris had played in Alabama offenses coordinated by Brian Daboll in 2017 and Mike Locksley in 2018. It is not everything, but it is something. Harris can be a 50-catch back in the NFL.

Look for Harris to become the NFL’s next star running back out of Alabama in the next year or so.
