1. Patrick Mahomes will throw for over 5,500 yards

Mahomes is the most talented signal-caller in the league and he plays for a coach who concocts some of those most innovative offensive schemes in the NFL on a weekly basis. That’s a clear recipe for the former Texas Tech quarterback to put up video game numbers in 2021.

Of course, everything needs to break right for Mahomes if he’s going to become the single season yardage leader in NFL history. That honor currently belongs to Peyton Manning who threw for 5,477 yards for the Broncos in 2013. This prediction is for Mahomes to narrowly edge out Manning.

The biggest threat to Mahomes throwing for 5,500+ yards is that his offensive line won’t provide him the protection required to stay healthy for a full 17-game slate. Remember, that extra game gives Mahomes an even better chance to best what Manning did over a 16-game schedule. The bet here is that Kansas City’s front office finds a way to give their quarterback just enough protection to keep him upright for a full regular season.

If Mahomes plays 17 games then he’s got a great chance to break the record. In some ways, 5,500 might be too modest a target for the talented gunslinger. He’s just that good.
