Boston Red Sox shortstop Xander Bogaerts rightfully lost his mind after a terrible call led to him striking out against the Minnesota Twins.

What is it with MLB umpires making terrible calls of late? Fans remain furious after the Atlanta Braves were basically robbed of a win against the Philadelphia Phillies on Sunday. Now, we’ve witnessed another terrible call in the showdown between the Twins and Red Sox?

We sure have. In the middle of the action, Boston shortstop Xander Bogaerts was at the dish hoping to record a timely hit. Instead, he struck out on a very questionable call. Actually, this ball had no business being called a strike. Take a look for yourself.

The umpire has to be kidding here. That ball was several inches outside, yet it was called strike three? Bogaerts was nothing short of disgusted with the call. In the video above, you see him lose his cool and no one can blame him for that.

Again, the increase in bone-headed decisions by umps in the bigs is not what fans want to be seeing right now. These calls can make or break games. Even worse, they can make or break seasons.

For Bogaerts, he entered Wednesday’s showdown posting an impressive .361 batting average, with 13 hits in 36 at-bats. The Red Sox have been on an absolute tear after losing the first three games of the season, recording a seven-game winning streak.

They sit at the top of the AL East standings, which comes after they finished in dead last in 2020. Bogaerts and Boston will look for the hot play to continue. The team can only hope more terrible calls don’t go against them.
