1. Jalen Hurts will make fewer than 10 starts

Philadelphia’s top priority is to find out whether or not Hurts deserves to be their starting quarterback of the present and future. Unfortunately, he’s going to fail to live up to those lofty monikers in 2021.

He may never turn into a massive flop, but he’s also not going to develop into a star. That’s why the Eagles are going to pull the plug on the Hurts experiment before people expect them to. It might be an exaggeration to call it a move designed to help them tank for a higher draft pick, but that could also be a meaningful part of the organization’s thinking.

No matter what, Hurts is going to find himself on the trade block come next offseason. If he doesn’t lock the starting job down then it’s clear Philadelphia will be in the market for a rookie or big-name free agent to replace him at their earliest opportunity.

Hurts’ lack of size also factors into this prediction. If he tries to run the ball to make up for his mediocre arm strength, he’s going to get pummeled by opposing defenders. One way or another, he’s going to end up on the bench for a significant stretch of the 2021 campaign. His relative mediocrity is the biggest limiting factor for the Eagles heading into next season.
