1. Jalen Hurts. QB

Hurts probably should have seen more action early in his rookie season. But he took over for Carson Wentz during Week 13 against the Green Bay Packers, and he only gave up playing time over the rest of the season when the Eagles clearly tanked in Week 17.

Hurts threw for over 300 yards in two of his three full games last season, while adding the expected production as a runner (238 yards and a touchdown). His 52 percent overall completion rate is a concern, but with 46 percent of his pass attempts traveling 10-plus yards in the air (the highest rate of such attempts in the NFL, according to Pro Football Focus) that lack of accuracy seems rooted in a play-calling issue.

The Eagles are never too far away from quarterback rumors, but their trade down from No. 6 to No. 12 in the first round of the draft seems to show a commitment to Hurts for 2021. For what it’s worth, Hurts has changed his jersey number to reflect his status as the No. 1 quarterback. Joe Flacco is not a threat to unseat him without an injury.

Hurts will have to prove he’s the guy under center for the Eagles over a full season in 2021. But the opportunity is in front of him to do just that. A full-on breakout campaign would answer all questions about Philadelphia’s plans at quarterback.
