NFL Mock Draft: What the first-round looks like if 49ers pass on Mac Jones
By Brad Weiss
The Green Bay Packers have long avoided adding a wide receiver in the first round, but in 2021, they do just that, giving Aaron Rodgers another weapon in the passing game. Terrance Marshall Jr. is a guy who some feel will land in the second round, but the Packers need to make Rodgers happy, and Marshall will help them do just that.
At pick No. 30 overall, the Buffalo Bills add a quality defensive player, bringing in Zaven Collins from Tulsa, who can play the edge or linebacker. Buffalo is the real deal and will be back in the mix for an AFC title this upcoming season, but they need to add guys like Collins to the defense to take the next step.
The Kansas City Chiefs fell short of repeating as Super Bowl champions this past season, but that does not mean that this team is going anywhere any time soon. With the No. 31 overall pick, the Chiefs add protection for Patrick Mahomes, bringing in Samuel Cosmi from the University of Texas, who has Pro Bowl talent written all over him.
The last pick of the first round belongs to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who made the move for Tom Brady last offseason, and it paid off with their first Super Bowl in nearly 20 years. With this pick the Buccaneers bolster their defensive line, bringing in Alabama’s Christian Barmore, who could end up being a top-15 pick before all is said and done.
