NFL Mock Draft: What the first-round looks like if 49ers pass on Mac Jones
By Brad Weiss
The Washington Football Team is a team that could trade up into the top-10 this year, as they need a long-term solution at quarterback. However, if they do decide to stay put, putting their trust in Ryan Fitzpatrick and Tyler Heinecke, then getting some help along the offensive line makes sense here.
One player who is shooting up draft boards is Teven Jenkins, a mauler of a left tackle from Oklahoma State. If Fitzpatrick is the guy next season, they have to protect him, and Jenkins is a player who could have a solid ten-year run for this franchise.
The Chicago Bears have made it clear that Andy Dalton is their guy heading into next season at quarterback, so Bears fans can take that statement any way they want to. At wide receiver, Dalton is going to need to have some more depth, and they get a possible star at pick No. 20 in Kadarius Toney from Florida.
Toney tore up the Senior Bowl and displayed an excellent route-running ability and soft hands. Dalton may not be the long-term answer in the Windy City, but a player like Toney could certainly make his 2021 season with the team a solid one.
At pick No. 21, the Indianapolis Colts will look to add some talent to their defensive backfield. One player I really like to go in the first round later this month is Northwestern star Greg Newsome, who I feel could end up being the second-best cornerback to come out of this draft class this year.
Newsome has everything you look for in a shutdown cornerback, and he would fill one of the bigger voids on this Colts defense. He has the talent to start right away in Indy, and for a team looking to take the next step forward, they need his help in the defensive backfield in a big way.
