player. 49. Pick Analysis. CB. Asante Samuel Jr.. Scouting Report. Florida State. 2

Samuel has NFL bloodlines, with similarities to his father beyond sharing a name. In 2019 he led the ACC with 14 pass breakups, while adding 49 total tackles. In three seasons for the Seminoles, he had 29 pass breakups.

Samuel is smaller than NFL teams might like (5-foot-10, 180 pounds). But he’s a fine all-around corner, and other than a slight penalty propensity, there’s no great weakness in his game.

According to Justin Melo of The Draft Network, the Packers were one of a few teams at that point who had met virtually with Samuel twice during the pre-draft process. He has compared himself to a prospective new teammate in Green Bay too.

“I feel that I’m a dominant corner on the outside,” Samuel told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “They try to look at my height and things of that nature, but I’m the same size as Jaire Alexander, and he’s a dominant NFL cornerback right now, one of the best in the league. I feel like size doesn’t matter; it’s about the heart and the dog mentality you have on that field.”

Could the Packers look to pair Samuel with Alexander on the first night of the draft? It looks like a nice fit.
