1. Swing for the fences with Kris Bryant

The Cubs are in a position to offload some big-name players this year. The White Sox could make a splash by pursuing one of them: Kris Bryant.

Bryant is a three-time All-Star and once MVP who has seen his numbers fall off over the last couple of years. Even now, his .243 batting average isn’t anything to boast about, but it’s the best for the Cubs so far this season. A change of scenery could be all he needs to return to previous heights.

Versatility would make Bryant truly valuable to the White Sox, who wouldn’t have to pay the premium for him they would have a couple of years ago.

If they want him to play third base, there’s a case to move on from Yoan Moncada, who hasn’t bounced back from his COVID-19-impacted 2020 season as hoped.

Bryant could also cover for Eloy Jimenez in left field, considering the lengthy injury absence ahead of him. Having Bryant could convince the team to deploy Jimenez as a designated hitter going forward.

It’d be worth the try.
