White Sox place Lance Lynn on injured list
The Chicago White Sox have placed veteran pitcher Lance Lynn on the Injured List, but he’s only expected to miss one start.
Chicago White Sox pitcher Lance Lynn has been superb so far this season for the AL Central club, but he’s going to be off the bump for a little while. That’s because on Sunday, it was announced that Chicago has placed the veteran starter on the Injured List.
Lynn has started in three games this campaign, but is being sent to the IL with a strained right trapezius muscle. According to James Fegan of The Athletic, the club is hopeful Lynn will only have to miss one start.
Lance Lynn is headed to the Injured List after a strong start to his 2021
While this is disappointing news for White Sox fans, the positive is that the injury isn’t expected to be serious. Lynn complained of discomfort following his most recent start on Thursday, so it’s clear Chicago is playing things safe here.
Lynn really has turned heads this year in his three starts, as he’s posted a 0.92 ERA thus far. He’s allowed only two earned runs in 19.2 innings of work. In his April 8 start against the Kansas City Royals, Lynn pitched a five-hit shutout. That performance alone reminded Chicago of how dangerous he can be on the bump.
Thus far in 2021, the White Sox are 7-8 on the season. It hasn’t quite been the start everyone was hoping for under new manager Tony LaRussa, but the team no question has potential to make plenty of noise in the division this season. In order for that to happen, though, Lynn will need to be healthy and continue to pitch at a high level. The White Sox will hope this injury doesn’t linger throughout the year.
