2021 MLB Power Rankings: Red-hot Oakland A’s crack the top-10

No. 6 and 5

40. . 9-6. Previous: . San Francisco Giants. 6. team

The San Francisco Giants have gone 3-3 across their last six games, but are more than staying alive in a very tough NL West. Of course, every team is looking up at the Los Angeles Dodgers, but if the Giants can continue to get this kind of pitching from their starting rotation, they are going to be in the mix all season long.

Johnny Cueto is having an outstanding year, posting an earned run average under 2.00, and Anthony DeSclafani is also pitching well every time out. Overall, most of this starting rotation is putting the team in position to win each time they toe the rubber, and Jake McGee has been lights out as the closer, racking up six saves already.

Offensively, Even Longoria is displaying good power numbers, blasting four home runs already, and he also leads the team in runs batted in. Donovan Solano is also off to a solid start, as he is the only full-time starter batting over .300.

Seattle Mariners. 5. team. 62. . 10-6. Previous:

The Seattle Mariners have won four of their last five games, and surprisingly, are the top team in the AL West this season. Seattle came into this season with plenty of question marks, but through their first 16 games of the 2021 campaign, they have played consistent baseball offensively, but no so much on the mound.

Ryan Haniger has been the key bat for the Mariners, leading the team in home runs, batting average, and runs batted in. Ty France is another key cog in this Seattle lineup, hitting over .300 to start the season, as the offense has helped lead the way in place of a starting rotation that has struggled throughout.

Marco Gonzales has an earned run average over 8.00, struggled in a big way so far, but Chris Flexen has been arguably their best starter. James Paxton has already been injured, so for this Mariners team to stay atop the division, they are going to have to find someone to step up in this rotation.
