2021 MLB Power Rankings: Red-hot Oakland A’s crack the top-10

No. 2 and 1

team. 14. . 10-6. Previous: . Boston Red Sox. 2

The No. 2 team in our initial power rankings are the Boston Red Sox, who shook off a three-game home sweep at the hands of the Baltimore Orioles to start the season, only to reel off nine straight victories after. The Red Sox are getting incredible production from their power guys, as Rafael Devers and J.D. Martinex have each blasted five home runs, and have combined for 32 runs batted in.

Nathan Eovaldi continues to deal as the ace of the staff, and Matt Barnes has been lights out from the bullpen, striking out 15 batters in eight innings across seven appearances. Xander Bogaerts is hitting close to .400, and had they not lost their last two games, they would have given our next team a serious run for the top spot.

71. . 13-3. Previous: . Los Angeles Dodgers. 1. team

That next team is our No.1  team in our rankings, the Los Angeles Dodgers, who just may be on the brink of back-to-back World Series titles. Dave Roberts has his team playing at such a high level, as they are getting contributions up and down this roster, and are clearly the team to beat early on in the 2021 MLB season.

Sporting a 13-3 record, the Dodgers have not lost back-to-back games this season and were in the midst of an eight-game winning streak before losing to the San Diego Padres on Sunday. Justin Turner is hitting over .400, and leads the team with five home runs, while the signing of Trevor Bauer turned out to be worth the money.

Oh yeah, Clayton Kershaw also looks to be back to his Cy Young form, posting a 2.19 ERA with 24 strikeouts in 24.2 innings of work this season. Watch out MLB, this team is downright scary.
