2. T.J. Hockenson will top 90 catches

Hockenson hasn’t become the superstar the Lions envisioned him to be when they drafted him as the No. 8 overall selection in the 2019 NFL Draft. That doesn’t mean he isn’t in line to have that sort of impact in 2021 and beyond.

The former Iowa star only managed to grab 32 passes as a rookie, but he more than doubled that output to 67 grabs last season. He’s not going to double his catch total again, but he’s in line for another healthy increase.

Goff’s preference to really involve a tight end in his offensive scheme will also work in Hockenson’s favor. He’s a great fit to run seam routes off of play-action. That should be a staple of Detroit’s offense with Goff at the helm.

The other big reason why Hockenson is in line for more targets is that the Lions don’t have a wide receiver on the current roster capable of soaking up Golladay’s workload. Even if Detroit spends a first round pick on a new wideout they’re going to need more out of their stud tight end. Hockenson will deliver in a big way.
