We haven’t seen Mahomes’ best yet

Given how successful he’s been so early in his career, it’s easy to lose sight of how young Mahomes actually is.

At 25 years old, he’s not even near his prime.

In 2020, Mahomes posted a career-best QBR, completion percentage, interception percentage and yards rushing. While he didn’t match 2018’s insane touchdown total of 50, he managed single-digit interceptions for the second straight season.

Mahomes getting older is a good thing for him. Aaron Rodgers getting older isn’t.

Rodgers had an incredible season in 2020. It was basically perfect from a passing perspective. However, he’s 37 and eventually, he’ll face an age-related downturn.

Granted, Tom Brady won the MVP at 40, but that was a season when Carson Wentz was his biggest competition at quarterback and the Eagles quarterback suffered an ACL injury before the season ended. Mahomes wasn’t yet a starter in the league.

It’s more likely Rodgers will experience a dip in 2021 than Mahomes. And frankly, Mahomes is just better than the rest of the competition. The award is his for the taking.
