2. Allen Robinson will get traded

The franchise tag is the only reason why Robinson is still in Chicago. He doesn’t trust the coaching staff and he’s clearly tired of playing with below-average quarterbacks. Add all that up and it’s easy to see why he might end up on the trade block if the season doesn’t go according to plan for the Bears.

Of course, his $18 million salary does make him somewhat difficult to trade. The potential framework for a Robinson deal might be Chicago absorbing a bloated contract plus draft capital in exchange for their talented, but unhappy wide receiver.

The timing of the transaction is also very tricky. Robinson is an integral part of the Bears’ offense. He’s the only player they have on the roster that has any chance of being a No. 1 wideout in the near future. Dealing him might be a signal that the current front office is giving up on the 2021 season.

It still could be the right move for the Bears if his unhappiness starts to become a distraction in the locker room. If he starts to carp publicly, it makes this prediction much more likely. At the very least, it’s a situation worth monitoring early in the season.
