4. Kevin King will get benched for a rookie

The Packers raised a lot of eyebrows around the NFL with their decision to bring back King on a one-year, $5 million deal this offseason. That investment isn’t going to pay off for Green Bay’s front office.

King’s nightmare playoff run caught a lot of attention from neutral fans last year, but his regular season performance wasn’t much better. His final season PFF grade of 55.7 accurately depicted his below-average performance as a starter.

In fairness to Green Bay’s front office, bringing King back gives them much-needed depth at the cornerback position. That doesn’t mean the Packers will stand pat at corner during the draft.

The prediction here is that Green Bay will use an early to mid-round pick to provide serious competition for King on the outside. The young veteran might hold on to his starting spot for a while, but he’s going to get benched before too long. King’s days with the Packers are numbered. The team needs a rookie to take his job if they want to achieve glory in 2021.
